This article constructs examples of associative submanifolds in $G_2$-manifolds obtained by resolving $G_2$-orbifolds using Joyce's generalised Kummer construction. As the approach $G_2$-orbifolds, volume tends to zero. partially verifies a prediction due Halverson and Morrison.

We use a generalised Kummer construction to realise all but one weight four newforms with CM and rational Fourier coefficients in a smooth (non–rigid) Calabi–Yau threefold defined over Q. Vanishing theorems for associative submanifolds

Let M7 a manifold with holonomy in G2, and Y 3 an associative submanifold with boundary in a coassociative submanifold. In [5], the authors proved that MX,Y , the moduli space of its associative deformations with boundary in the fixed X, has finite virtual dimension.
